    TILE KIOSK offers Tajimi tiles for purchase individually. From dead stock found in kilns, items produced for a long time, newly created pieces, to rare prototypes made experimentally, the tiles vary in color, shape, size, and age. Although tiles are typically used as building materials, looking at each one individually can spark discoveries of how they can be used in daily life as tableware, trinket trays, or objects, depending on your ideas. You can enjoy tiles from a slightly different perspective than usual.

    【Tajimi Tiles】
    With rich soil containing high-quality clay minerals, pottery culture began approximately 1300 years ago in the area around Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. A characteristic of Tajimi tiles is not only their overwhelming production capacity, but also that each manufacturer uses various forms and characteristics, from materials and molding to glazes. Furthermore, it is also characterized by the enduring presence of traditional Japanese firing techniques, diverse glaze expressions, and the equipment and production methods that support them.
    Tile manufacturing, which began in the early 20th century, has now become a leading industry in Gifu Prefecture. Its total production volume is the highest in Japan, and the Tajimi region produces 90% of all domestic mosaic tiles.
