    One of four tile pieces created through a collaboration between London-based designer Max Lamb and TAJIMI CUSTOM TILES.
    TAJIMI CUSTOM TILES showcases the appeal of tiles from a new perspective, utilizing the tradition and craftsmanship of Tajimi tiles. The pieces, shaped through slip casting, bring out the beautiful natural color of the clay. This work reflects Lamb's extensive knowledge of materials and experimental approach, typical of a designer who often creates products with his own hands. It can be used as an art object, or as a tray for small items on a desk or at an entryway.

    【Tajimi Tiles】
    Due to the rich soil containing high-quality clay minerals, pottery culture began approximately 1300 years ago in the Tajimi City area of Gifu Prefecture. A characteristic of Tajimi tiles is not only their overwhelming production capacity, but also the fact that each manufacturer uses various forms and properties, from materials and molding to glazes. Furthermore, it is also characterized by the preservation of traditional Japanese firing techniques, diverse glaze expressions, and the equipment and production methods that support them.
    Tile manufacturing, which began in the early 20th century, has now become a representative industry of Gifu Prefecture, with the highest overall production volume in Japan, and 90% of domestic mosaic tiles are produced in the Tajimi area.
