    One of four tile pieces created in collaboration between London-based designer Max Lamb and TAJIMI CUSTOM TILES.
    TAJIMI CUSTOM TILES showcases the appeal of tiles from a new perspective while utilizing the traditions and craftsmanship of Tajimi tiles. The pieces, shaped through slip casting, bring out the beautiful colors inherent in the clay itself to their fullest. This work reflects Lamb's extensive knowledge of materials and experimental approach, typical of a designer who often creates products through hands-on fabrication. It can be used as an art object, or as a tray for small items on a desk or at an entryway.

    【Tajimi Tiles】
    In the Tajimi City area of Gifu Prefecture, where rich soil containing high-quality clay minerals is abundant, pottery culture began approximately 1300 years ago. The characteristic of Tajimi tiles is not only their overwhelming production capacity but also the fact that each manufacturer employs various forms and characteristics, from materials and molding to glazes. Furthermore, it is also characterized by the preservation of traditional Japanese firing techniques, diverse glaze expressions, and the equipment and production methods that support them.
    Tile manufacturing, which began in the early 20th century, has now become a leading industry in Gifu Prefecture. Its total production volume is number one in Japan, and for mosaic tiles, 90% of domestic production comes from the Tajimi area.
