    One of four tile pieces created in collaboration between London-based designer Max Lamb and TAJIMI CUSTOM TILES.
    TAJIMI CUSTOM TILES utilizes the traditions and craftsmanship of Tajimi tiles to present the appeal of tiles from a new perspective. The pieces, shaped through slip casting, bring out the beautiful natural color of the clay to its fullest. This work reflects Lamb's extensive knowledge of materials and experimental approach, typical of a designer who often creates products with his own hands. It can be used as an art object or as a tray for small items on a desk or at an entryway.

    【Tajimi Tiles】
    In the Tajimi area of Gifu Prefecture, where rich soil containing high-quality clay minerals is abundant, pottery culture began approximately 1,300 years ago. The characteristic of Tajimi tiles is not only their overwhelming production capacity but also how each manufacturer uses various forms and characteristics in everything from materials and molding to glazes. Furthermore, it is characterized by the preservation of traditional Japanese firing techniques, diverse glaze expressions, and the equipment and production methods that support them.
    Tile manufacturing, which began in the early 20th century, has now become a representative industry of Gifu Prefecture. Its total production volume is the highest in Japan, and for mosaic tiles, the Tajimi region produces 90% of the domestic supply.
