The author's 'Fantasy' (original title: 'Fantasia', 1977), for which an English edition had not previously been published, traces the author's own thoughts and experiences, inviting readers on an exploration of imagination, creativity, and fantasy. The author's theory of creativity, developed in resonance with the Reggio Emilia approach (an early childhood education theory and method from northern Italy) and the research of developmental psychologist Jean Piaget, permeates his own design process, client work, and activities with children presented in this book.
By transforming life and work itself into a place of learning, the author opens up a sense of "play" through imagination, both within himself and within the reader. This facsimile edition includes new annotations by Munari scholar and design historian Jeffrey Schnapp, demonstrating why this book remains relevant today, just as it was when first published.
