A collection of works by Lina Bo Bardi, an Italian architect and one of the most important architects in Brazilian history. The architect is known for her bold modernist architecture, including the São Paulo Museum of Art and the SESC Pompéia cultural center. Active as an artist, architect, designer, writer, and social activist, she actively showcased local crafts and materials. Her democratic designs were inclusive, opening doors to those excluded from elitist organizations, embodying a distinctive aesthetic within the modernist movement both in Brazil and abroad. This collection of essays presents new perspectives on the architect from leading contemporary artists, architects, curators, and researchers. The contributors address the conceptual, social, and political philosophies inherent in the architectural materials she chose, from her use of concrete and nature to the repurposing of site-specific materials.

The book also includes illustrations and a 7-page fold-out section, shedding new light on the ideological strategies inherent in her iconic projects and lesser-known works.
