A collection of works by American textile artist Sheila Hicks. Published in conjunction with the exhibition held at the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen in Switzerland from February to May 2023.
The artist primarily uses wool, linen, and silk as mediums, expanding the boundaries of traditional textile art. Her works combine color, form, and material in novel ways, exploring a textile yet architectural dimension. As a pioneer of textile conceptual art, the artist has created a unique visual language over 60 years, from delicately woven intricate pieces to monumental installations that open up new perspectives on the possibilities of art.
This book includes the exhibition space, a dialogue with researcher and curator Robert Storr, and an essay by curator Gianni Jetzer. It also features a record of the artist's own lecture held at the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen and previously unpublished illustrations.
