The 10th issue of 'ARK JOURNAL', a bi-annual interior design magazine from Scandinavia. Stories of beautiful homes around the world and the people who live in them reveal that space is an expression of philosophy and personality, more than just a place to put beautiful furniture and art. Founded in 2019 by Mette Barfod, who has worked for many years as an editor and stylist for a famous Danish interior design magazine, this magazine focuses on "the spaces around us, the objects we place in them, and the makers of those objects." It focuses on the interplay of architecture, design, and art through Scandinavian values and aesthetics.

'ARK JOURNAL' celebrates its 5th anniversary in 2023. This commemorative 10th issue is dedicated to the world of past, present, and future design and architecture that has shaped and inspired ARK JOURNAL's journey over the past five years. This issue further explores the intersection of human life with architecture and design, revealing their profound impact on our lives in both home and public spaces. To celebrate this significant occasion, we have collaborated with Fedrigoni, a long-established paper company in Verona, Italy, to present three special covers made with unique paper.

    Contents:

In "HOMES," we visit the penthouse of a New York gallerist. We also visit fashion designer Phillip Lim's seaside home in Long Island, New York, a historic mansion in Düsseldorf renovated for artist Su Xiaobai, architect Marc Dessauvage's Brutalist home in Bruges, and a loft in Copenhagen where everything has a place and is assembled to suit actual living.

In "INTERVIEW," we interview the design duo Formafantasma, activists and practitioners who seek to reshape the field of design from within, a field that some find lacking in radicalism and others find not commercial enough. We also include an interview with Japanese architect Tadao Ando, who believes that "home" is the foundation or origin of architecture, as it is the most conflict-ridden domain closest to human life.

In "INSERT OBJECTS," we present the collection of American designer Jack Lenor Larsen, from ancestral heirlooms to anonymous pieces. Larsen's collection tells of a broad interest in craft cultures around the world. Styling and curation were done by Colin King, and photography by Martien Mulder.

In "SPACES COPENHAGEN," we introduce four apartments that blur the lines between internal and external life, as an expression of individuality and a portrait of their inhabitants.

In "LIVING ARCHITECTURE," we showcase the innovative and revelatory home of Swedish designer Bruno Mattson.

In "CASE STUDY" by interior stylist Pernille Vest, perfectly imperfect, unpolished edges and raw materials reveal the perfection of simplicity.

In "ARCHIVE," we introduce the graceful light sculptures of Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi, which transcend debate and categories, inspiring and illuminating.

In "STUDIO VISIT," we visit designer Henry Timi, who built a uniquely austere yet sensory studio in the Marche region of Italy.

*Please note that this magazine comes with several different covers, but you cannot choose a specific cover. The content inside will be the same regardless of the cover.
