These natural material slippers are by Kazumi Takigawa, who creates rustic, rugged pieces by applying wax to canvas to give it water resistance and strength. The artist handles everything from dyeing to cutting and sewing, using dyes such as tea and coffee. Like the aging of leather, the texture will improve with use and you can enjoy the process of them softening and becoming more comfortable.
Regarding care:
・As you continue to use them, white lines will appear throughout due to creasing and rubbing. You can remove these white lines by lightly ironing the area or applying hot air from a hairdryer to melt the wax on the surface.
・Once they have softened and become more comfortable, you can restore their original stiffness by placing the bag between two sheets of parchment paper and slowly applying a hot iron over it; the stiffness will return once it cools.
