The "Pots" series, featuring Faye Toogood's iconic curvilinear designs realized through the traditional Japanese technique of wood-firing. The lid is shaped like a tea bowl, and when inverted, the knob becomes a foot, allowing it to function as a vessel. It possesses a quiet, somewhat Japanese aesthetic within Faye's distinctive, object-like designs.
FAYE TOOGOOD
A British designer known for furniture and objects that demonstrate an exploration and experimentation with materials. All her works are handmade by small-scale manufacturers and traditional craftsmen. They are produced in adherence to the characteristics of the materials, embracing the irregularities of handcrafted work. While majoring in logic, she also pursued art, gaining a unique perspective from her experience working in the cutting-edge magazine industry. Her sculptural works reveal respect for the past, pure self-expression, and instinct. Her personal collection line, named "Assemblages," is a collection of works that showcase experimentation with materials and methods, unconstrained by preconceptions. Her activities span multiple domains, including product design, space design, and exhibition composition, yet everything she touches tells a unified story.
E&Y
E&Y is a Tokyo-based design label that curates, develops, produces, and sells furniture and objects. Its design resources come from continuously evolving designers worldwide, with new works unveiled both domestically and internationally in cities like Milan, London, and Tokyo, boasting a collection of over 50 pieces. They also collaborate with designers, artists, and architects to develop artistic works and original products for various projects. Some of E&Y's works are housed in institutions such as MoMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York), the Design Museum London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and the National Museum of Sweden.
MAX LAMB
Born in 1980. Max Lamb spent his childhood in Cornwall, a rural town on the west coast of England, developing a love for nature and a spirit of making things. This led him to explore materials using both traditional and unconventional methods. Today, he continues to rethink the function of materials while utilizing their inherent qualities, striving to create positive relationships among products, manufacturers, and users through simple yet effective designs for communication. After graduating from Northumbria University, he earned his Master's degree from the Royal College of Art (RCA) in 2006. Based in London, he leads lectures and workshops while engaging in activities that create new designs by applying traditional material concepts and personally participating in the processes.
