MAT TOKONOMA (Pastel Color) / Max Lamb
By dyeing some of the white threads, which are bundled together in hanks, with the three CMYK colors of cyan, magenta, and yellow, accidental CMYK intermediate colors are created in the cross-section of the finished shag, giving each one a unique appearance. In the tufting process, where the dyed threads are implanted into the mat's base fabric, a random pattern is created from a systematic manufacturing method by setting the order of implantation. This mat, with its beautiful colors, adds a playful touch to everyday spaces as a seat cushion or floor mat.

TOKONOMA is a collection announced in 2015 by Max Lamb, a designer active in London.
Inspired by the concept of "tokonoma" (alcove), it is a collection consisting of different materials and functions based on Japanese interior decorating styles. Individual elements such as material, size, color, texture, and weight interact and enhance each other. Consciously, and sometimes unconsciously, they blend in, and when the four pieces are combined in daily life, they become everyday items that provide both practicality and beauty.
E&Y
E&Y is a Tokyo-based design label that edits, develops, manufactures, and sells furniture and objects. Its design resources come from continuously evolving designers around the world, and it has launched new products both domestically and internationally in cities such as Milan, London, and Tokyo, with a collection of over 50 works. E&Y also develops artist works and original products for projects with designers, artists, and architects. Some of E&Y's works are held in the collections of institutions such as MoMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York), the Design Museum London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and the Nationalmuseum in Sweden.
MAX LAMB
Born in 1980. Max Lamb spent his childhood in Cornwall, a rural town on the west coast of England, where his love for nature and the spirit of making things led him to explore materials using both traditional and unconventional methods. Even today, he reconsiders the function of materials while utilizing their inherent qualities, striving to create a good relationship among products, manufacturers, and users through simple yet effective communication in design. After graduating from Northumbria University, he earned a master's degree from the Royal College of Art (RCA) in 2006. Based in London, he leads lectures and workshops while engaging in activities that create new designs by rethinking traditional material concepts and directly participating in the process.
