MAT TOKONOMA (Primary Color) / Max Lamb
In this rug, part of the white yarn is dyed in CMYK cyan, magenta, and yellow while still in skeins. This process causes CMYK secondary colors to spontaneously appear in the cross-sections of the finished shag, giving each rug a unique appearance. During the tufting process, where the dyed yarn is implanted into the rug's base fabric, a random pattern is created from a systematic manufacturing method by setting the order in which the yarn is implanted. This beautifully colored rug, whether used as a seat cushion or a floor mat, adds a touch of playfulness to any everyday space.

TOKONOMA is a collection launched in 2015 by London-based designer Max Lamb.
Inspired by the concept of "tokonoma" (alcove), it is a collection of various materials and functions based on the Japanese style of arrangement. Individual elements such as material, size, color, texture, and weight interact and enhance each other. Consciously, and sometimes unconsciously, blending in, the four pieces combine in daily life to become everyday items that provide both practicality and beauty.
E&Y
E&Y is a Tokyo-based design label that curates, develops, manufactures, and sells furniture and objects. Its design resources come from designers around the world who are constantly evolving, and new works are presented both domestically and internationally in places like Milan, London, and Tokyo, with the collection boasting over 50 pieces. E&Y also collaborates with designers, artists, and architects to develop art pieces and original products for various projects. Some of E&Y's works are in the collections of MoMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York), the Design Museum London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and the Nationalmuseum in Sweden.
MAX LAMB
Born in 1980. Max Lamb spent his childhood in Cornwall, a rural town on the west coast of England, which fostered his love for nature and the spirit of making things. He explores materials through both traditional and unconventional methods. Currently, he continues to leverage the inherent qualities of materials, re-evaluate their functions, and strive to create positive relationships among products, manufacturers, and users through simple, effective designs in communication. After graduating from Northumbria University, he earned a master's degree from the Royal College of Art (RCA) in 2006. While also leading lectures and workshops, he is based in London, where he engages in activities that create new designs by applying traditional material concepts and personally participating in the production process.
