Coasters from the GOM series, designed by Masayuki Kurokawa since 1973. This is a set of two coasters with convex and concave embossing. The matte texture and elasticity of rubber not only reduce the sound when placing a glass, but also prevent slipping. The raised and lowered surfaces also prevent cold glasses from sticking due to condensation. While creating an accent in the space, they naturally blend into daily life as a well-balanced presence that doesn't create noise.
Masayuki Kurokawa
Architect/Product Designer. His representative work, the GOM series (1973-92), was selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. He broadly and comprehensively considers and works in fields ranging from architectural design to industrialized architecture, product design, and interior design.
Recently, he has been involved in designing spaces such as galleries, offices, and shops, as well as products, mainly in mainland China.
