Tetsuhiro Iwata, based in Tokyo, creates ceramics.
His pieces are made by combining artificial semi-porcelain with porcelain clay, then applying a glossy, crackle-free transparent glaze. While they possess a grayish-white, industrial-product-like, unadorned appearance, the traces of his hands, characteristic of analog methods, strangely prevent them from feeling cold.

The "Kyuryo Bowl" (Hill Bowl) is inspired by the ridge lines of the sand dunes in Tottori Prefecture, Iwata's hometown. Organic curves create smooth light and shadow effects. With a depth that is neither too deep nor too shallow, it is a versatile vessel that enhances any table setting, whether for Japanese, Western, or Chinese cuisine, desserts, or sweets.
