Yohei Nakazato's unique background includes studying industrial design at a British university, working for a general company, and then teaching himself lacquerware production starting in 2012. He handles all stages of production himself, from creating the wooden base to applying the undercoat and the final lacquer. He uses precious, domestically produced lacquer from Nagano for the finish, resulting in a refined luster and smooth texture. His lacquerware is beautiful, balancing exquisite design with the subtle marks of hand-carving. He is currently based in Aoki Village, Nagano Prefecture.
