Yohei Nakazato has an unusual background, having majored in industrial design at a UK university, working for a general company, and then teaching himself how to make lacquerware since 2012. He handles all processes himself, from woodworking to undercoating and finishing. The finishing lacquer uses precious Japanese lacquer from Nagano, characterized by its elegant luster and smooth texture. His lacquerware is beautiful, balancing exquisite designs with the marks of his hand carving. He is currently based in Aoki Village, Nagano Prefecture.
