    “2016/” is a collaborative project between Arita, Saga Prefecture, and the Netherlands, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Arita ware. New Arita ware was created by 16 acclaimed designers from Japan and abroad, along with 16 kilns and trading companies.

    This simple dinnerware is stackable, making it a standard set that can be used in everyday life around the world. Designer Teruhiro Yanagihara was inspired by the glaze phenomena that inevitably occur during the porcelain manufacturing process, and proposed a design in which the beauty of perfection and imperfection coexist. Based on the ancient Japanese belief that beauty resides in the imperfect, he embraced the unevenness of the glaze, which was previously considered a failure in Arita, and created dinnerware with a distinctive appearance.
