    The "2016/" project is a collaboration between Saga Prefecture's Arita and the Netherlands, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Arita ware. New Arita ware was born from the collaboration of 16 acclaimed designers from Japan and abroad, and 16 different kilns and trading companies.

    This simple tableware is stackable, making it a standard set suitable for everyday use worldwide. Designer Teruhiro Yanagihara drew inspiration from the natural phenomena that occur during the porcelain glazing process, proposing a design where the beauty of perfection and imperfection coexist. Based on the ancient Japanese philosophy that beauty resides in imperfections, he affirmed the unevenness in glazes, which was previously considered a defect in Arita, and created tableware featuring these expressive textures.
