    A project called "2016/" is a collaboration between Arita, Saga Prefecture, and the Netherlands, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Arita ware. New Arita ware was created by 16 designers active both in Japan and internationally, and 16 kilns and trading companies.

    This simple tableware is stackable and designed to be standard tableware for everyday use around the world. Designer Teruhiro Yanagihara drew inspiration from the glaze phenomena that inevitably occur during the porcelain manufacturing process, proposing a design where the beauty of perfection and imperfection coexist. Based on the ancient Japanese belief that beauty resides in imperfections, he affirmed the unevenness of the glaze, which was previously considered a defect in Arita, and created tableware characterized by its unique appearance.
