    The "2016/" project is a collaboration between Saga Prefecture's Arita and the Netherlands, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Arita ware. New Arita ware was created by 16 design teams active both in Japan and internationally, and 16 potteries and trading companies.

    This simple tableware is stackable and designed as standard tableware for everyday use worldwide. Designer Teruhiro Yanagihara was inspired by the glaze phenomena that inevitably occur during the porcelain manufacturing process, and proposed a design where the beauty of perfection and imperfection coexist. Based on the ancient Japanese philosophy that beauty resides in imperfection, he embraced glaze irregularities, which had previously been considered flaws in Arita, and created tableware featuring these unique expressions.
