    The "2016/" project is a collaboration between Arita, Saga Prefecture, and the Netherlands, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Arita ware. New Arita ware has been created by 16 designers and 16 kilns and trading companies active both in Japan and overseas.

    This simple tableware is stackable and designed to be a standard for everyday use around the world. Designer Teruhiro Yanagihara drew inspiration from the glaze phenomena that inevitably occur during the porcelain manufacturing process, proposing a design where the beauty of perfection and imperfection coexist. Based on the ancient Japanese belief that beauty resides in imperfection, he affirmed the unevenness of glazes, which had previously been considered a flaw in Arita, and created tableware characterized by these unique expressions.
