    The "2016/" project is a collaboration between Saga Prefecture's Arita and the Netherlands, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Arita ware. New Arita ware was created by 16 acclaimed designers from Japan and abroad, working with 16 kilns and trading companies.

    This simple tableware is stackable and designed to be a standard for everyday use around the world. Designer Teruhiro Yanagihara drew inspiration from the glost firing phenomena that inevitably occur during porcelain manufacturing, proposing a design where the beauty of perfection and imperfection coexist. Based on the ancient Japanese belief that beauty resides in the imperfect, he embraced the unevenness of glazes, which had previously been considered a flaw in Arita, and created tableware featuring these distinctive expressions.
