    This flower vase was born from a collaboration between Marutomi (Marutomi Shikki) in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, and Ettore Sottsass, a master of Italian design. This is a highly rare lacquered version. Sottsass's unique form is so modern that it's hard to believe it was designed in 1997, nearly 20 years ago, and it has an object-like presence. It is made using the techniques of Echizen lacquerware for commercial plastic lacquerware.

    The inner material is made of wood resin (a resin mixed with 55% wood powder and 45% phenolic resin) and is lacquered. The lacquer is not hand-painted, but spray-painted, and it is said that only a craftsman with advanced spray painting technology at the time could have painted such a difficult shape so beautifully.

    This is a limited collection of deadstock items, so quantities are limited, making it a very rare and valuable piece.
    Seventeen years have passed since Sottsass's death, and these collections are expected to become increasingly valuable.
