    A compote born from the collaboration between Marutomi (Marutomi Shikki) in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, and Ettore Sottsass, a master of Italian design. This is a limited edition, highly valuable lacquerware version. Sottsass' unique form is so modern that it's hard to believe it was designed in 1997, more than 20 years ago, exuding an object-like presence.

    The inner material is made of wood-plastic composite (a resin mixed with 55% wood powder and 45% phenolic resin) and is lacquered. The lacquer is not hand-painted but applied by spray painting. It is said that only a craftsman with advanced spray painting techniques at the time could have painted such a complex shape so beautifully.

    As this is a limited collection and dead stock, quantities are limited, making it a very rare and valuable piece. With 17 years having passed since Sottsass' death, these collections are expected to become increasingly valuable.
