    SARO is a lifestyle brand born from the changing Japanese way of life, from evolving food culture to the blurring lines between work and home. By drawing inspiration from everyday scenes, we create functional products with a fresh perspective.

    The first installment, the FLATWARE COLLECTION 2023, was created through a collaboration between various carefully selected Japanese craftspeople and Swiss industrial designer Carlo Clopath. It is a collection of 23 pieces that flexibly and broadly adapt to modern Japanese dining.

    This modern petty knife features a rounded blade. In addition to minimal cooking tasks such as cutting vegetables and fruits, it can also be used as a table knife. It is crafted by cutlery artisans in Fukui Prefecture, and the unique patterns seen on the blade are characteristic of forged blades, naturally formed by hammering layered steel materials.

    Swiss industrial designer, Carlo Clopath (born 1986).
    After studying industrial design at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne, he joined Cecilie Manz' Office in Denmark in 2012. In 2013, he participated in an artist residency at the Statens Værksteder for Kunst art workshop in Copenhagen. Since then, he has established his own studio in a Swiss Alpine village. He has released many projects primarily with artisans and producers in Europe and Japan, as well as research institutions.
