    From changes in food culture to the blurring boundaries between work and home, SARO is a lifestyle brand born from Japan's evolving way of life. By drawing inspiration from everyday scenes, SARO creates functional products with a fresh perspective.

    The first collection, FLATWARE COLLECTION 2023, was created through a collaboration between various carefully selected Japanese artisans and Swiss industrial designer Carlo Clopath. It features 23 collections designed to flexibly accommodate a wide range of modern Japanese dietary habits.

    Lacquered chopsticks are an indispensable part of Japanese cuisine. These chopsticks are made slightly longer than standard chopsticks. In addition to the four existing lacquer finishes—Vermilion, Tame-nuri, Makiji Vermilion, and Makiji Black—a new Makiji White has been added. Both the wooden base and the lacquer finish are carefully handcrafted one by one by artisans in Fukui Prefecture.

    Carlo Clopath (born 1986), a Swiss industrial designer.
    After studying industrial design at ECAL/University of Art and Design in Lausanne, he joined Cecilie Manz' Office in Denmark in 2012. In 2013, he participated in an artist residency at the Statens Værksteder for Kunst art workshop in Copenhagen. He later established his own studio in a Swiss Alpine village and is currently active there. He has launched numerous projects primarily with artisans, producers, and research institutions in Europe and Japan.
