    SARO is a lifestyle brand born from the changing Japanese way of life, from shifts in food culture to the increasingly blurred lines between work and home. By drawing inspiration from everyday scenes, SARO creates functional products with a fresh perspective.

    The first collection, FLATWARE COLLECTION 2023, was created through the collaboration of various carefully selected Japanese craftsmen and Swiss industrial designer Carlo Clopath. This collection of 23 pieces is broadly and flexibly adapted to contemporary Japanese dining.

    This versatile renge (Chinese soup spoon) can be used not only for soups but also as a dessert spoon, tea spoon, or serving spoon. Its surface is enameled. Its simple, rounded form, like a gently bent sheet of metal, has a subtle curve extending to the end of the handle, providing reliable functionality appropriate for a renge. The enamel coating also gives it a smoother feel in the mouth.

    Swiss industrial designer Carlo Clopath (born 1986).
    After studying industrial design at ECAL/University of Art and Design in Lausanne, he joined Cecilie Manz’ Office in Denmark in 2012. In 2013, he participated in an artist-in-residency at the Statens Værksteder for Kunst art workshop in Copenhagen. He then established his own studio in a Swiss alpine village, where he has been active ever since. He has published numerous projects, primarily with artisans, producers, and research institutions in Europe and Japan.
