    The "PARK" multi-purpose plate designed by Akihiro Kumagaya.

    "PARK" is a product composed of two "spaces": the "space" between industrial and artisanal manufacturing, a characteristic of Echizen lacquerware, and the "space" of accepted uses for a vessel. Its half-pipe form is inspired by the gentle dividers found in lacquerware serving dishes and plates. On the dining table, it can be used as a tray, bowl, or plate. Placed on a desk, it neatly holds scattered stationery and glasses. Placed at the entrance, it seems to be just right as a "fixed spot" for keys and accessories. While it has some defined uses, it facilitates the "ingenuity = arrangement" that arises from the user's daily life.

    Representative of AK_DD. Since 2007, he has explored ways of seeing things, and engaged in design and direction based on his unique perspective and the reconstruction of contexts. He extracts the composition and materials of objects, continuously producing studies of objects that mediate representation and perception. In 2021, he presented his first solo exhibition, "OBJECTS," and continues to create works based on this theme.
