    The "PARK" multi-purpose plate, designed by Akihiro Kumagaya.

    The product "PARK" is composed of two "awais" (gaps): "the gap between industrial and handcrafted production," which is a characteristic of Echizen lacquerware, and "the gap in usage" that a vessel accommodates. Its half-pipe form is inspired by the gentle partitions of a lacquerware serving dish or plate. At the dining table, it can be used as a tray, bowl, or plate. Placed on a desk, it neatly holds scattered stationery and glasses. Placed at the entrance, it seems just right as a "fixed spot" for keys and accessories. While there are certain ways to use it, it facilitates "ingenuity = arrangements" that arise from the user's daily life.

    Representative of AK_DD. Since 2007, he has explored ways of seeing and engaged in design and direction based on his unique perspective and the reconstruction of context. He extracts the composition and materials of objects, continuously creating studies of objects that mediate representation and perception. In 2021, he held his first solo exhibition "OBJECTS" and continues to create works based on this theme.
