PARK [Sand]
PARK is a multi-purpose plate designed by Akihiro Kumagai.
PARK is a product composed of two "awais" (gaps/spaces): the "awaii" between "machine industry and handicraft industry," which is a characteristic of Echizen lacquerware, and the "awaii" of "use" that a vessel accommodates. Its half-pipe form is inspired by the gentle partitions of lacquerware serving dishes and plates. It can be used as a tray, bowl, or plate at the dinner table. Place it around your desk to neatly hold scattered stationery or glasses. Placed at the entrance, it seems just right as a "fixed spot" for keys or accessories. While it has certain uses like these, it also facilitates "ingenuity = arrangements" that arise from the user's daily life.
