Glass Line / Aldo Bakker

The Glass Line series was designed in 1998 by Dutch product designer Aldo Bakker. Despite his father being Gijs Bakker, the founder of Droog Design, Aldo has forged his own path with a completely different style and approach, drawing global attention for his unique forms and expressions.
This series is named after seven uses: champagne, port wine, beer/water, cognac, wine, grappa, and whisky. Each shape not only serves its intended function but also features a sculptural presence that transcends mere utility.
This collection of glasses was once discontinued because no factory could undertake its production. However, after seven years, a suitable factory was found, and the much-anticipated revival was realized in 2023.
Feel free to choose based on your favorite drink, or pick a shape that instinctively appeals to you as your personal glass. How about giving them as a gift to a wine lover? Made from heat-resistant glass, they can be used for hot beverages, and are also microwave and dishwasher safe.

Aldo Bakker

Born in 1971 in Amersfoort, Netherlands. His parents are Emmy van Leersum, a jewelry designer, and Gijs Bakker, a pioneer of conceptual design and founder of Droog Design. He began his career in jewelry design, then shifted his creative focus primarily to glass. Currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, he designs various objects including porcelain and metal tableware, wooden chairs and benches, and works using lacquer, establishing himself as a product designer with a unique and distinctive style through his unparalleled forms.
