The "HOSONO HOUSE" cover project, which started in February 2024, has been completed with the addition of new participating artists, and will be released as a cover album on LP. The album will feature 11 tracks, including new contributions from TOWA TEI and SE SO NEON (KR), as well as rei harakami's previously released cover of "Owari no Kisetsu". The jacket illustration is by Tomoo Gokita.
Haruomi Hosono's first album, "HOSONO HOUSE," was released in 1973. It remains a timeless masterpiece in the history of pop music, cherished not only in Japan but across the globe. For example, Harry Styles' "Harry's House," which won Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards, was inspired by "HOSONO HOUSE." This demonstrates its widespread influence and appreciation among younger generations worldwide. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of this masterpiece, a cover album titled "HOSONO HOUSE COVERS" has been created. A multitude of incredibly cool and hot artists and bands who admire Haruomi Hosono from Japan and around the world have contributed wonderful covers. This cover album offers a fresh perspective on the enduring charm of "HOSONO HOUSE," which continues to shine brightly. The US/EU version, released by Stones Throw Records (US), features Pearl & the Oysters and Jerry Paper.
