    Denmark's electronic art-pop legends Efterklang release their latest work. A shared home found in music, after a long spiritual journey. Limited Sky Blue Vinyl For over 20 years, Efterklang, the reclusive Danish band, has been weaving a tapestry of electronic and acoustic sounds, creating their own pop sound with both pop and experimental approaches. Following 2021's "Windflowers," they release their seventh studio album, "Things We Have In Common." This album, their first in three years, closes a cycle that began with 2019's "Altid Sammen" and continued with "Windflowers." These three works open the door to a simpler, more inclusive expression, exploring themes of human connection, the relationship between humans and nature, and collective spirituality and belonging. For "Things We Have In Common," pianist/composer Rune Mølgaard, a founding member who formed Efterklang with the trio of Mads Brauer, Rasmus Stolberg, and Casper Clausen, and who left after their 2nd album "Parades" in 2007, returns to participate at a deep level for the first time in a long while. He co-wrote seven of the nine tracks. During his time away from the band, Rune fell in love with a woman raised in the Mormon church, awakening his spiritual side and embracing Mormonism body and soul. However, as time went on, he found it increasingly difficult to maintain his newfound faith, and eventually his beliefs were almost crushed under the weight of unanswered questions. Then, in 2022, Rune broke ties with the Mormon church. On this album, the three core members of Efterklang take a step back to make room for Rune's ideas and sound world. It's a shared home they found in music after journeys that took them down separate paths. The album expresses their nomadic sense of belonging, "existing in a state of not belonging anywhere or to anyone, and being together within that." In addition to Rune Mølgaard, many other musicians participated. Zach Condon of Beirut, Finnish drummer Tatu Rönkkö, Venezuelan guitarist Héctor Tosta, and Guatemalan cellist/singer Mabe Fratti are important collaborators. Italian engineer Francesco Donadello, known for his work with Jóhann Jóhannsson and Dustin O'Halloran, also left a significant mark on this album, as did the South Denmark Girls' Choir (Sønderjysk Pigekor), who sing on "Animated Heart" and "To A New Day." Exactly 20 years after their first album "Tripper," this is where Efterklang, with their experimental adventurousness and fearlessness of constant change, have arrived. In 2010, they signed with the prestigious global label 4AD and released their 3rd album "Magic Chairs." After releasing their 4th album "Piramida" in 2012, the band moved away from the traditional album cycle, forming Liima with Finnish percussionist Tatu Rönkkö and releasing two albums. They also co-created the immersive opera "LEAVES: The Colour of Falling" as part of the Copenhagen Opera Festival. In 2019, they released "Altid Sammen," an all-Danish album in collaboration with Belgian baroque ensemble B.O.X. Following 2021's "Windflowers," they release their latest work, "Things We Have In Common," in 2024.
