This book features over 100 pieces of furniture designed by the artist. These were created between 1970 and 1991 for his homes and workspaces on Spring Street in New York and in Presidio County, Texas. The furniture design began during the renovation of his home and studio at "101 Spring Street" and subsequently evolved through the painstaking process of creating furniture for his residence in Marfa, Texas.
These furniture designs exemplify the frankness and directness of form and presence found in the artist's acclaimed artworks, while also demonstrating a unique functionality devoid of decorative elements. The book includes detailed drawings, breakdowns of materials used, and color photographs that delve into their placement and function within a space. It not only outlines the core aspects of his work but also elaborates on his deep understanding of functionality, form, and the potential of design in a world of mass production.
