Book: BREATH OF AN ARCHITECT by Bijoy Jain
Born in Mumbai in 1965, the artist explores the connections between art, architecture, and materials in his studio. For the Fondation, the artist engaged in a dialogue with the iconic architecture of French architect Jean Nouvel, conceiving an exhibition inspired by the rhythm of breath, providing a space for illusion and meditation. By merging people and nature, light and shadow, bamboo, brick, and stone, he shapes a meditative landscape that draws us into the essence of creation. Sculptures, objects, and furniture interact with artworks by Beijing-based Chinese painter Hu Liu and Turkish-Danish ceramist Alev Ebüzziya, whom the artist invited at the suggestion of Hervé Chandès, Artistic Managing Director of the Fondation.
Through this book, published in conjunction with the exhibition, readers will discover the artist's aesthetics and philosophy. In addition to the exhibition concept, this lavish large-format book focuses on drawings and photographs of the studio and works in progress.
The book's binding was designed by graphic designer Taku Satoh.
