The 12th issue of 'ARK JOURNAL,' a bi-annual interior design magazine from Scandinavia. The stories of beautiful homes around the world and the people who live in them reveal that spaces are more than just a place to display beautiful furniture and art; they are an expression of philosophy and personality. Founded in 2019 by Mette Barfod, who served for many years as editor and stylist for a famous Danish interior design magazine, this publication focuses on "the spaces around us, the objects we place in them, and the makers of those objects." It explores the interplay of architecture, design, and art through a Scandinavian lens of values and aesthetics. This issue is available with three different covers.

This issue explores the connection between home and design. Here, we delve not only into buildings and material objects but also into the intangible aspects that constitute daily life and society, such as atmosphere and a sense of belonging.

A key theme in this issue is materials and their origins, as well as their cultural and historical impact on daily life. We also delve deep into the craftsmanship and traditions incorporated to not only bring visual appeal to modern design but also to infuse it with meaning and authenticity. Furthermore, we consider how design influences emotions and behaviors, creating intimate and thoughtful spaces that foster creativity and contemplation.

HOMES: A New York townhouse maintains a Danish sensibility, while a brutalist concrete home surrounded by trees in Antwerp tells a film noir-like story. Two apartments in Berlin, centered around art, reflect different lives and interventions within them.

INTERVIEW: Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, explores all forms of design with the passion of a revolutionary provocateur, constantly expanding its scope and possibilities.

INTERVIEW: Japanese fashion designer Jun Takahashi cultivates concepts of chaos and harmony, which permeate his runway collections, art, and new furniture designs, in his rural home and studio outside Tokyo.

LIVING ARCHITECTURE: A home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, characterized by its strict, angular forms, reflects the landscape and cityscape through its materials in a space woven from light and shadow.

DESIGN: Can collectible design redefine the narrative, deepening our understanding of craftsmanship and meticulously conceived contemporary objects?

CASE STUDY: Interior stylist Pernille Vest introduces the enjoyment and expression of ephemeral beauty woven by objects characterized by the patterns of time and the beauty of aging.

ART: Swedish artist Ylva Carlgren's watercolors capture a momentary clarity between the tangible and the fleeting.

ESSAY: Danish architect Matthias Mentze reflects on folk art chairs that may have existed before the word "designer" was coined. In "PORTFOLIO," he traces how chairs have existed as objects and symbols throughout time.
