    Tetsuhiko Iwata creates ceramics based in Tokyo.
    He uses artificial semi-porcelain clay, a mixture of porcelain and earthenware clay, and applies a glossy clear glaze that doesn't craze. His works have a grayish-white, industrial-product-like, rugged appearance, yet the traces of the analog techniques used prevent them from feeling cold.
    The vase is composed of a cylindrical shape combined with a hemisphere.
    After creating the prototype through 3D modeling and 3D printing, a plaster mold is made, slip is cast into it, and the parts are joined. Traces from the printing layers, the plaster mold's parting lines, finger marks from smoothing, and cracks from firing are all visible.
    The accumulation of marks from various digital and analog processes creates a unique expression. The surface is finished with a platinum glaze.

    Tetsuhiko Iwata
    A ceramic artist based in Tokyo. Born in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture in 1981. After graduating from the Architecture Course, Faculty of Art, Kyoto Seika University in 2004, he worked at an interior shop. In 2014, he entered the Tochigi Prefectural Ceramic Art Research Institute. From 2016, he apprenticed under Tamaki Ito in Okayama Prefecture. In 2019, he opened his own kiln in Tokyo.
