    Yohei Nakazato has a unique background: after majoring in industrial design at a British university and working for a general company, he began making lacquerware in 2012 as a self-taught artist. He handles all stages of production himself, from wood preparation to undercoating and lacquering. The finishing lacquer uses rare domestic lacquer from Nagano, giving the pieces an elegant luster and smooth texture. His lacquerware is characterized by a beautiful balance between its exquisite design and the traces of his handiwork from the carving. He is currently based in Aokimura, Nagano Prefecture.
