    Yohei Nakazato has an unusual background, having specialized in industrial design at a British university, worked for a general company, and then taught himself lacquerware production starting in 2012. He handles all stages of production himself, from creating the wooden base to the undercoating and lacquering. For the final lacquer, he uses precious domestically produced lacquer from Nagano, which gives the pieces an elegant sheen and smooth texture. The lacquerware is beautifully balanced with exquisite designs and the marks of his hands from the hand-carving. He is currently based in Aoki Village, Nagano Prefecture.
