    Born from the changing Japanese lifestyle, from evolving food culture to the blurring lines between work and home, SARO is a lifestyle brand that creates functional products with a fresh perspective, drawing inspiration from everyday life.

    The first collection, FLATWARE COLLECTION 2023, was created through a collaboration between carefully selected Japanese artisans from various fields and Swiss industrial designer Carlo Clopath. This collection comprises 23 items that broadly and flexibly cater to contemporary Japanese dining.

    This wooden spoon features a rounded, ladle-like shape with a fuki-urushi (wipe-lacquer) finish. It can be used in a wide range of situations, from noodles like udon to soups and curries. The bowl and tip of the spoon are thin, preventing the thick feel often associated with wooden spoons. The spoon's wooden base, meticulously crafted down to the finest detail, is produced in a Hokkaido furniture factory using a 5-axis NC machining process.

    Swiss industrial designer, Carlo Clopath (born 1986).
    After studying industrial design at ECAL/University of Art and Design in Lausanne, he joined Cecilie Manz' Office in Denmark in 2012. In 2013, he participated in an artist-in-residence program at the Statens Værksteder for Kunst art workshop in Copenhagen. He then established his own studio in a Swiss Alpine village, where he currently works. He has launched many projects primarily with artisans, producers, and research institutions in Europe and Japan.
