    This urushi bento box is individually carved by hand.
    Finished with tame-nuri (dark topcoat over a lighter undercoat), you can enjoy watching the color of the undercoat become more vivid with use.

    Yohei Nakazato has an unconventional background, having majored in industrial design at a British university, worked for a general company, and then taught himself to make lacquerware starting in 2012. He handles all steps of the production process himself, from woodworking to base coats and finishing. For the final lacquer coat, he uses rare domestic urushi from Nagano, resulting in an elegant luster and smooth texture. This lacquerware is exquisite, balancing beautiful design with the痕跡 of hand carving. He is currently based in Aoki Village, Nagano Prefecture.
